The fourth transnational meeting of the Blueskilling Innovation project took place in Cork, Ireland, bringing together partners from Spain, France, Ireland, and Portugal to review progress and coordinate upcoming activities. The event was hosted by the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) and Munster Technological University, who provided an ideal setting for productive collaboration and exchange.
During the meeting, the BPN (Bretagne Pole Naval) and NMCI presented the final results of Work Packages 1 and 2, focused on identifying skills gaps and mapping existing training provision in the maritime sector. Portuguese partner CENTEC Técnico shared updates on WP3, which explores current and future training demand, while UPV/EHU, CIFP Santurtzi LHII, and CIFP Blas de Lezo provided input on WP4, dedicated to curricula design.
Participants also had the opportunity to visit the LIR National Ocean Test Facility, gaining valuable insight into Ireland’s strong commitment to marine innovation and applied research in the Blue Economy.
Funded by the Interreg Atlantic Area programme, the Blueskilling Innovation project aims to improve workforce qualifications in the maritime and shipbuilding sectors. Over a three-year period, the project will deliver a set of specialised training courses across vocational and higher education, addressing key challenges related to sustainability, digitalisation and innovation in the Atlantic area.
This fourth meeting confirmed the strength of the partnership and its shared vision to equip maritime professionals with the skills needed to support a more competitive and resilient Blue Economy across Europe.
