VET Santurtzi Welcomes Two High‑Level Institutional Delegations in a Week of Strategic Engagement

Mar 4, 2026

The Blueskilling Innovation partner VET Santurtzi has hosted two significant institutional visits this week, strengthening its role as a reference centre for advanced vocational training and international collaboration.

Earlier in the week, the centre received the Basque Government’s Minister of Education, Begoña Pedrosa, accompanied by Lucía Torrealday, Vice-Minister for Education Policies. The visit highlighted the institution’s commitment to innovation, digitalisation, and skills development—key priorities also aligned with the Blueskilling Innovation Project. The delegation toured several training facilities, learned about ongoing modernisation efforts, and engaged with staff and students to understand upcoming educational needs within the Basque labour market.

Shortly after, the centre welcomed an international delegation from Qualifications Scotland, opening the door to further cooperation in competency-based training, accreditation mechanisms, and quality assurance frameworks. The exchange served to explore common challenges and opportunities in upgrading maritime and blue economy skills across Europe—an essential dimension of the Blueskilling Innovation mission.

Both visits underscore the strategic importance of Santurtzi VET Centre’s work in equipping learners with 21st‑century capabilities and in connecting regional training ecosystems with broader transnational initiatives. As a project partner, the institution continues to play a key role in advancing innovative methodologies for talent development in the Atlantic Area.
