Launch of the First Pilot Course of Blueskilling Innovation in Pasaia

Dec 3, 2025

Blueskilling Innovation Project has launched the first pilot course in Pasaia – Gipuzkoa, bringing together students and teachers from CIFP Blas de Lezo and CIFP Santurtzi. This milestone marks the beginning of a series of specialised training modules designed to strengthen skills for the blue economy across the Atlantic Area.

Representatives from the Basque Maritime ClusterBIE/EIB UPV/EHUCIFP Blas de Lezo and CIFP Santurtzi took part in this event.

The pilot course, titled “Hydrogen Fuel and Offshore Floating Devices: CFD Simulations and Experimental Validation”, is delivered by a multidisciplinary team from BIE/EIB UPV/EHU. The 1st module “Hydrogen and photovoltaic”, combines hydrogen technologies with offshore renewable energy, offering a pioneering learning experience that integrates computational fluid dynamics with practical, hands-on experimentation.

Throughout the programme, participants explore the interaction between hydrogen-based solutions and floating offshore structures, gaining exposure to advanced simulation tools and experimental methodologies. This blended approach aims to equip students and professionals with the competencies needed to contribute to a more sustainable and innovative maritime sector.

The initiative supports the wider goals of the Interreg Atlantic Area by promoting knowledge transfer, fostering cross-border cooperation and strengthening the competitiveness of the blue economy.

By piloting this first course, the Consortium wants to empower the next generation of professionals who will lead the transition towards cleaner energy and resilient maritime industries.

More pilot courses will be rolled out in the coming months as Blueskilling Innovation continues to develop specialised training pathways that respond to emerging challenges in the Atlantic Area.
