The Blueskilling Innovation project has completed the final module of its first pilot course, Hydrogen Fuel and Offshore Floating Devices, delivered within the framework of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme.
The course was held in Portugalete and Bilbao and focused on hydrogen ship engines and offshore floating technologies, combining technical training with practical learning to address the skills needs of the maritime sector.

As part of the programme, participants visited cutting-edge maritime innovation facilities, including the InnoBoat Bizkaia project and the Experimental Wave Flume, where they gained hands-on insights into hydrogen propulsion systems, offshore technologies and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
The training was delivered in collaboration with the Escuela de Ingeniería de Bilbao (EHU/UPV), with the participation of students and teachers from VET Blas de Lezo and VET Santurtzi, fostering collaboration between vocational education and higher education.
This first pilot course represents an important step towards strengthening skills development for a more sustainable and innovative maritime sector, in line with the objectives of the Blueskilling Innovation project.
