The Blueskilling Innovation Project has successfully completed its pilot course on Port and Energy Management Operations, delivered online by Munster Technological University (MTU) as part of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme.
Delivered by Deirdre Lane, Harbour Master of Dunmore East Harbour and part-time lecturer at MTU, the course introduced participants to the key functions of ports, port operations management, stakeholder engagement, and the growing role of ports in supporting the offshore renewable energy sector.
The pilot brought together participants from MTU and EHU (University of the Basque Country), providing practical insights into the challenges and opportunities facing modern ports as they adapt to the transition towards a more sustainable blue economy.
This successful pilot marks another important step for the Blueskilling Innovation Project in developing innovative maritime training programmes that support the future skills needs of the Atlantic Area’s maritime sector.
